Retrofit Avionics Solution

Wise Investment: Solution for ADS-B Out & LPV

Universal Avionics presents a certified navigation solution for ATR 42 and ATR 72 aircraft using our SBAS-FMS to enable both ADS-B Out and LPV operations. This is a handsomely crafted 2-in-1 solution for regional transport operators.

An upgrade today means complying with the latest EASA and FAA mandates for Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) Out. Aircraft equipped for ADS-B Out provide aircraft position data to other aircraft and ATC even where there is no Air Traffic Management (ATM) radar coverage available.

With this 2-in-1 solution, you gain Localizer Performance with Vertical Guidance (LPV) approach capability while meeting the mandates on ADS-B Out. LPV offers the highest precision GPS instrument approaches currently available without specialized aircrew training requirements, ideal for regional aircraft operations.

Key Benefits

The SBAS-FMS is designed as an integrated navigation solution for Regional Transport Aircraft. The ATR-42/72 package benefits you through:

  • Savings in time and fuel with more direct routes thanks to LPV approaches enabled by the SBAS-FMS. There are currently more than 700 LPV approaches in Europe, and even more throughout the rest of the world. In North America alone, there are more than 4,000 different LPV approaches to date at over 1,900 airports, including almost 1,200 airports that do not have an ILS.
  • Increased revenue opportunities with greater access to airports with reduced ground infrastructure which are typical destinations for regional transport aircraft.

Key Features

  • Fully coupled 3D approach capability (Baro VNAV, LNAV/VNAV, LPV)
  • Minimal training required for the flight crew
  • 16 meter horizontal accuracy and 20 meter vertical accuracy, 95 percent of the time, precision that supports LPV
  • Large memory capacity and worldwide database, complemented with high-speed loading
  • Optional FlexPerf™ Trip Performance for self-learning performance and downrange fuel savings
  • Available with a Multi-function Control Display Unit (MCDU) or a 4- / 5-inch Control Display Unit to replace a Honeywell HT-1000 or Bendix King KLN-90B
  • Certified and integrated with several transponders, including Collins Aerospace’s TDR-94D Transponder
