Data Comm for the Bombardier Learjet 40/45 | New STC Available

Feb 26, 2020

Why is Controller-Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC) with Departure Clearance (DCL) a benefit to your operation?

With the rollout of CPDLC with DCL happening at an increasing number of airports across the United States, the ability to utilize this enhanced form of communication is becoming more valuable than ever. DCL allows Air Traffic Controllers and aircraft operators the ability to communicate digitally to supplement traditional voice communications. This digital communications procedure is more efficient than the older voice DCL and can shorten wait times at congested airports. Shortened waits can significantly reduce operating expenses and increases efficiency as airspaces around the world develop into a "best equipped, best served” environment.

UA Authorized Dealer, Flightstar Corporation, recently received approval of a CPDLC with DCL Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) in the Bombardier Learjet 40/45. STC Number ST04421CH provides multiple options that can add value to an aircraft in addition to increasing operational efficiency. The ability to utilize the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) version of DCL, Aeronautical Telecommunications Network Baseline 1 (ATN B1) is included in the STC. Future Air Navigation System (FANS) 1/A+ capabilities can also be added with the optional addition of an iridium satellite receiver.
