Tucson, AZ – October 10, 2011 – Universal Avionics is pleased to announce the completion of development for its UniLink® UL-800 and UL-801 Communication Management Unit (CMU). The FAA Technical Standard Order (TSO) package for Universal Avionics’ third generation Airborne Datalink System is now in process of submittal to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Approval is imminent and delivery is expected to begin shortly thereafter.
UniLink UL-800/801 airborne datalink features:

The UniLink provides superior operations and control of digital communications between the pilot and Air Traffic Controller in the exceedingly complex Communication, Navigation, Surveillance (CNS) Air Traffic Management (ATM) environment. The UL-800/801 provides an opportunity to take full advantage of the safety and efficiency benefits that advanced datalink capabilities offer.
The UL-800/801 interfaces with Universal Avionics’ current FMS product line with either 4” or 5” Control Display Units. For increased versatility, UL-801 includes an internal VHF Data Radio (VDR). The UL-801’s internal VDR saves weight, space, and the installation of an external VDR.
