Las Vegas, NV - October 9, 2017 – Universal Avionics is showcasing the company's new Aeronautical Telecommunications Network Baseline 1 (ATN B1) Module for the UniLink UL-800/801 Communications Management Unit (CMU) throughout the 2017 NBAA Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition. The software upgrade provides an optional configuration for ATN B1 Controller-Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC) and Context Management functions required for the European mandate, formerly known as Link 2000+. The new UniLink module recently received FAA Technical Standard Order (TSO) authorization.

"With the certification of our latest UniLink module, we are delighted to provide the latest data link technology to the European community in support of the 2020 European Data Link Services (DLS) Mandate," said Robert Clare, Universal Avionics Director of Sales. "This demonstrates our commitment in providing new avionics solutions to the aviation community in support of Nextgen and SESAR as we move into the future," he added.

Aircraft operating in European airspace will need to be equipped for ATN B1 CPDLC by 05 February 2020.

Universal Avionics also recently received EASA Supplemental Type Certification (ESTC) (No. 10063034) for UniLink UL-801 ATN B1 upgrade on a Bombardier CL-600-2B16 (601-3A Variant) to comply with the European DLS Mandate. This marks the first European DLS capable approval for the UniLink UL-800/801 CMU.

To assist customers with current and upcoming NextGen and SESAR requirements, Universal Avionics is offering two new incentive programs in support of NBAA-BACE 2017. For the first incentive program, Universal Avionics is offering a UniLink UL-800/801 CMU at no charge for any customer who places a purchase order for an InSight® Display System on or before December 31, 2017. When integrated with the UniLink UL-800/801 CMU, InSight offers customers a path to meet future mandates and operations today with FANS 1/A+, CPDLC, and ATN B1.

The second incentive program offers customers 1-year of the company's FlightAssure® Extended Warranty Program at no charge with the purchase of any UniLink UL-800/801 CMU for orders placed on or before December 31, 2017. The FlightAssure Extended Warranty Program applies to both existing Universal Avionics products installed on the aircraft as well as any Universal Avionics products contained in the UniLink UL-800/801 CMU purchase order.

The UniLink UL-800/801 CMU can be installed on a wide range of platforms, even those with a third party Flight Management System (FMS). Unlike other solutions, the UniLink UL-801 has the Future Air Navigation System (FANS) and ATN B1 software built in, along with an internal VDL Mode 2 radio.
