Tip to Equip: Modern Avionics Provide Real Benefits

By: Stacy Honda, Marketing Manager

The General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA) is underlining the importance of making “informed decisions about how to comply with emerging and existing regulatory mandates immediately by selecting the right equipment for their aircraft’s typical mission.” While it’s vital to plan your aircraft’s upgrades to meet upcoming mandates, it’s also essential to factor in operational capability improvements. GAMA says when you equip with modern avionics, you’re provided with real benefits:

  • Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) benefits include: Improved surveillance, including at lower altitudes, which enable better Air Traffic Control (ATC) services and earlier direct to routing; safety through air-to-air situation awareness of other traffic; and, in the United States, the deployment of the services also include air-to-ground Flight Information Services, including weather.
  • Data Communications (Data Comm) benefits include: ATC being able to provide revised clearance much faster during weather events and quicker position updates in oceanic operations.
  • Satellite Navigation benefits include: Enhanced airspace management including deconflict airports that enhance overall airspace capacity and improve safety, shorter approach procedures that reduce overall flight paths and cost-effective vertical guidance for general aviation in thousands of airports.

Before you decide on your aircraft’s ADS-B Out solution, we recommend speaking with one of our Sales Representatives to discuss what solution is best for your operations – now, but also 3, 5, or even 7 years from today.
